The GIANTS have bolstered their draft stocks as they bid farewell to Jodie Hicks and Ally Dallaway.

Hicks and Dallaway, along with pick 43, depart for Richmond, while in exchange the GIANTS secure pick 30 and pick 69 at Monday’s AFLW Draft.

The GIANTS currently possess pick 3, 30, 52, 63, and 73 in Monday’s 2023 AFLW Draft.

Hailing from Hay in western New South Wales, Hicks joined the GIANTS through pick five in the 2017 AFLW Draft before later returning to the club through pick 82 in the 2022 AFLW Draft following a year out of the game.

A former cricketer with the Sydney Sixers, Hicks played 40 games across six seasons for the GIANTS.

Meanwhile, Dallaway will head to Punt Road after 30 games in orange and charcoal across three seasons.

Initially overlooked in the 2021 AFLW Draft, an injury to Isadora McLeay early in the pre-season opened the door for Dallaway to become a GIANT.

GIANTS Executive General Manager - Football Strategy and Operations, Briana Harvey, said the club is pleased to add another draft selection ahead of Monday’s AFLW Draft.

“While it’s sad to see both Jodie and Ally go, this deal gives us another draft pick we can use to add even more young talent to our exciting group,” Harvey said.

“Heading into the Draft with a number of picks gives us a great opportunity to further bolster our list for what we see as a successful future.

“I’d like to thank both Jodie and Ally for their strong contributions to the GIANTS over a number of years.

“Jodie wore the orange and charcoal across six seasons and Ally for three, and both had large impacts in their time at the club and we wish them all the best for the future.”

The trade comes following the GIANT addition of recent Brisbane Lion premiership player Mikayla Pauga who joined the Orange Tsunami on Tuesday.

The 2023 AFLW Draft will be held on Monday, December 18 and broadcast on afl.com.au.
