Star key defender Sam Taylor and young gun Finn Callaghan will ramp up their training this week in a bid to take on the Saints in Saturday’s elimination final at the MCG.

Taylor, an All Australian and Kevin Sheedy Medal winner last year, injured his hamstring in round 23 against the Bombers.

Callaghan, who last played in round 21 against the Swans, has been managing ongoing achilles soreness after playing 18 games so far this season.

The pair both ran strongly during last Saturday’s training session, incorporating speed and change of direction.

They’ll each ramp up their training this week ahead of main training on Thursday

GIANTS Head of Medical, James Rahme, said:

“Sam and Finn are feeling good so far and will do everything possible to put their hand up for selection this week,” he said.

“They’ve ticked all the boxes so far but will need to continue to progress this week and train strongly on Thursday.

“We’re looking forward to seeing how they go across the week.”

Meanwhile, Xavier O’Halloran (hand) and Braydon Preuss (soreness) both performed strongly in a scrimmage against the Swans on the weekend of the Carlton clash and are also available for selection this week.

The GIANTS take on St Kilda in an elimination final on Saturday, September 9 at the MCG.
