The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS are delighted to help celebrate AFL Women's Round this weekend.
Chief Executive David Matthews said women of all ages were an integral part of Australian football and this was an opportunity to acknowledge their contribution at all levels.
"As a new club in Greater Western Sydney we are proud to say that about a quarter of our staff are women and we hope this will continue to grow as we build the club in years to come," Matthews said.

"We also boast two female board members and females make up more than 30 per cent of our more than 10,000 members in our inaugural year as we look to enlarge our footprint across Sydney and Canberra."
In particular, Matthews acknowledged the role of Melissa Lambert, who along with her husband Craig, played a pivotal role in player welfare at the GIANTS.
"Without Melissa we would not have been able to settle our young playing list into the club. She has been a great support to many young boys living away from home for the first time and helped build a wonderful culture at our club."
On Friday August 3 the club will hold its inaugural Ladies Lunch which will be compared by the GIANTS Number One Ticket Holder Melissa Doyle and her Sunrise co-host David Koch.
"We couldn't be happier to have Melissa Doyle as our first number one ticket holder and this will be a great event that will acknowledge the important role women play at the GIANTS especially people like Mel Lambert but also the mothers of all our players.
"There are more than 25,000 female participants in AFL across NSW and the ACT and we hope this will grow in the years to come as we see more females off all ages get involved at all levels of the game."
