Scans on Sunday have revealed much-loved GIANT Adam Kennedy will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

Kennedy was knocked off the ball late in Saturday’s loss to the Lions and landed awkwardly, with scans revealing an ACL tear and Kennedy set to undergo a knee reconstruction.

GIANTS General Manager of Football Jason McCartney said the club is devastated for the inaugural GIANT.

“It’s shattering news for Adam and the club but we’ll wrap our arms around ‘Kenners’ and give him all the support he needs,” McCartney said.

“He’s a much loved member of our footy club and we know he’ll attack this setback with his trademark hard work and diligence.”

Scans have also revealed All Australian defender Sam Taylor will miss 10 weeks with a high-grade hamstring strain. Taylor was subbed out of Saturday’s match after suffering the injury in the third quarter.

“Unfortunately Sam will miss around 10 weeks with this hamstring injury,” McCartney said.

“It’s frustrating for Sam, who has been in exceptional form, but we look forward to welcoming him back after our mid-season bye.”

Forward Daniel Lloyd, who was a late withdrawal from the round six match with a calf injury, will be a test ahead of the Sydney Derby at the SCG next Saturday.

Meanwhile in the VFL, defender Leek Aleer injured his ankle, which will sideline him for two weeks.

Wingman Cooper Hamilton will see a specialist after presenting last week with a small stress fracture in his navicular. The injury is non-surgical at this stage but will cause the second-year GIANT to miss a number of weeks.

The GIANTS take on the Swans in the Sydney Derby at the SCG on Saturday.
