Midfield bull Jacob Hopper and star defender Phil Davis will undergo surgery in Melbourne on Thursday.

Davis suffered a hamstring injury late in the second quarter of Sunday’s match against the Tigers with scans on Monday revealing a grade three tear.

Consultation with specialists in Melbourne on Wednesday determined surgery to be the best course of action to treat the injury. He will then commence rehabilitation and is expected to be sidelined for two-to-three months.

Hopper also consulted a surgeon on Wednesday regarding a knee complaint. After experiencing pain and discomfort in his knee following round one, scans and consultation with specialists revealed a new injury that requires a knee arthroscope. The leader will undergo surgery on Thursday.

The decision was made to ensure the midfielder is fully fit for the second half of the season given his importance to the team. He is expected to be sidelined for a period of time with a timeline around his return to be determined following the surgery.
