Last Time They Met: Emotions and hunger were high last time these two sides met. It was round one of 2021 and the match marked the first time the GIANTS stepped out on the field to honour their late teammate Jacinda Barclay. The GIANTS had also been on the road since New Years Day, enduring multiple relocations to ensure the season ran as planned. Only seven points separated the GIANTS from the home side at the main break but it was the Dockers who had a second half surge of six goals to secure a 30-point win.

TV & Online: The match will be broadcast live from 5pm (AEDT) on 7Two in NSW and ACT as well as on Foxtel, Kayo and the Official AFLW App.

What it Means for the GIANTS: The GIANTS will be looking to build on their opening round win and solidify themselves atop the standings early in the season. If they get up on the weekend, it will be the first time the club has secured consecutive wins in the opening two rounds.

Where’s the Opposition at: The Dockers sit second on the ladder ahead of a stint on the road given the current border restrictions in Western Australia. They opened their 2022 campaign with a convincing win against cross-town rivals, the Eagles, including a strong final term with 16-0 inside 50s.

The Number: 31 – both the GIANTS and the Dockers record 31 inside 50s in their respective round one matches. The GIANTS finished their match with 5 goals and six behinds, with the Dockers scoring 6.7.

In the mix: Alan McConnell seemed relatively impressed with his new-look side in the opening round clash, including three AFLW debutants. With Chloe Dalton’s availability still yet to be confirmed after injuring her shoulder in round one, an opening may arise for Emily Pease who was last week’s emergency.
