The GIANTS will take on Carlton in a Saturday night blockbuster at Marvel Stadium in round 23.

Following two consecutive Friday night encounters against Geelong and Richmond, the GIANTS will take on the Blues at Marvel Stadium at 7.40pm AEST on Saturday, August 21.

If the GIANTS win they will secure 7th spot on the AFL ladder and advance to a fifth finals series.

Carlton veteran Eddie Betts will bring to an end one of the game’s great careers when he runs out for the 350th and final time on Saturday night.

The match will be closed to the public with crowds not allowed at games again this weekend.

The AFL confirmed on Monday afternoon that the pre-finals bye has been officially scrapped for 2021 with the week off to instead be held over and used during the finals.

The week off will, however, be a fluid decision and give the AFL the option of using it ahead of the preliminary final or the Toyota AFL Grand Final depending on whether teams are required to be relocated to other states given the ongoing threat of COVID-19.

The Grand Final remains fixtured for Saturday, September 25.
