A versatile and athletic tall utility capable of playing in multiple positions, McCormick endured a breakout 2025 campaign which saw her rewarded with a maiden All Australian blazer following a starring season as a rebounding defender. Drafted as a ruck, McCormick has settled into a role as a defender in recent seasons where a clean run with injury saw her establish herself as one of the league’s most damaging defenders in 2025. A key to McCormick’s success has been her ability to both nullify some of the league’s best tall forwards while also kickstarting the GANTS’ attack with her dash and dare out of defence. Her breakout 2025 All Australian campaign saw McCormick lead all key defenders in the competition for disposals, tackles, and inside 50s, while also finishing second in her position for meters gained. Originally from Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, McCormick played football on the NSW North Coast for Port Macquarie, where the league’s best and fairest medal was named in her honour in 2025. McCormick moved to Eastlake FC in the ACT to chase her AFLW dream in 2021 where she was ultimately drafted out of the AFL Canberra league ahead of the GIANTS’ 2022 (S7) season. Heading into 2026, McCormick is a cornerstone of the GIANTS’ backline and an influential member of the leadership group.
