Originally missing out on her AFLW dream in 2021 after being overlooked in the draft, Gaffney’s resilience paid off when she was selected by the GIANTS with pick 66 in the 2022 NAB AFLW Draft.  An elite runner hailing from Tasmania, Gaffney is a tough winger who uses her running power and speed to great effect. After playing in six games in her debut season of 2022, the Zippy Tasmanian was forced to miss the entire 2023 campaign with an ACL injury suffered on the eve of the season. After returning from an ACL to play in 10 of 11 games in the 2024 season, Gaffney was dealt another cruel blow, suffering her second ACL injury in the final game of the 2024 season. Gaffney will continue her rehab with the aim of returning to the field late in the 2025 season.
