Bursting onto the scene in 2024, O’Dowd is quickly establishing herself as one of the league’s most exciting players despite being a newcomer to the sport. Hailing from County Leitrim, where she was discovered, O’Dowd was signed by the club ahead of the 2024 season after playing an instrumental role in Dublin wining the All-Ireland Gaelic Championship in 2023. Standing at 180cm tall, O’Dowd was able to transition to AFLW in brilliant fashion, with the Irish sensation remarkably finishing equal fourth in the 2024 Gabrielle Trainor Medal, her first season of Australian rules football. Utilised as a ruck, O’Dowd’s mix of her speed, endurance, and her dare to take the game on have made her one of the GIANTS’ most impactful players since her debut 2024 season. O’Dowd made history in her first game of AFLW in round one of the 2024 season, with the speedster kicking the fastest goal in AFLW history with her very first disposal, within the opening 15 seconds of the game. After a starring debut season in 2024, O’Dowd continued to impress in 2025, placing equal-third in the Gabrielle Trainor Medal.
