Hailing from Perth but with proud Italian roots, Stephen Coniglio has been one of the competition’s prime midfielders since being taken with pick two in the 2011 AFL Draft. After choosing football over a promising cricket career, the inaugural GIANT captained the club in 2020 and 2021 before being joined by Toby Greene and Josh Kelly as co-captains in 2022. The line-breaking onballer was back to his best in 2022 and 2023, finishing runner-up in the GIANTS’ club champion award in both seasons, as well as making the 2023 All-Australian squad. Coniglio finished the 2023 season averaging 28.3 disposals per game to go along with 5.4 clearances, 4.6 tackles and 4.8 inside-50s. In 2023, Coniglio also became the fourth inaugural GIANT to play 200 games for the club.
