On Monday, Patrick Dangerfield said a decision would be made on Selwood later in the week.
"He won't play if he is not right, but I am confident we've got plenty of time before that decision needs to be made, and if he is right he will put his hand up," Dangerfield said.
"We'll make sure he goes through all the proper protocols from our medical department."
Geelong finished their come-from-behind win over the Dockers in round 14 with just one fit man on the bench with Tom Stewart taken to hospital with a facial fracture.
Stewart will miss this week’s blockbuster clash at Spotless Stadium while Darcy Lang (calf) and Lachie Henderson (groin) face fitness tests. Ruckman Zac Smith will be available after being withdrawn from the emergencies' list with illness.

Other names in the mix to potentially return for Geelong include Jordan Cunico, who was named in the initial squad to face Fremantle but withdrew after rolling his ankle at training on the Friday.
Wylie Buzza was named in the best players in the VFL Cats' big win over North Ballarat on Sunday, finishing the game with 18 disposals, 14 hit-outs and a goal.
Jackson Thurlow was named as an emergency for the AFL game against Fremantle and played three quarters in the VFL, racking up 21 disposals and eight clearances.
