Small forward Brent Daniels is set to return for the GIANTS’ trip to Adelaide to take on the Crows, while two GIANTS have been sidelined.

Exciting forward Xavier O’Halloran will miss around seven weeks after suffering a dislocated thumb during the GIANTS’ win over the Hawks.

The 23-year-old injured his left thumb in the early minutes of the round 17 clash but bravely played out the remainder of the game.

GIANTS Head of Medical, James Rahme, said:

“It’s a disappointing setback for Xavier, who has had an excellent season,” he said.

“It was incredibly brave to play out the game given the nature of his injury, and important for the side once Lachlan Keeffe was subbed out. He won’t require surgery but will miss a period of time while the thumb heals.”

Keeffe, who was subbed out of Saturday’s game with a hamstring complaint, is also set for a short stint on the sidelines and is expected to miss the next three matches.

“It’s a minor hamstring injury for Lachie, which is good news, and he’ll attack his rehab with his usual professionalism,” Rahme said.

Goal-kicking small forward Brent Daniels has returned to full training and is expected to put his hand up to take on the Crows this weekend after missing multiple weeks with a hamstring injury.

“Brent is back in full training and did an extra session last Saturday in a bid to return to the field this weekend,” Rahme said.

“He’ll need to get through training this week but at this stage we expect him to line up against the Crows on Saturday night.”
