Jimmy Bartel joined the GIANTS Board in December 2018 after a long and distinguished career as a player at Geelong. Bartel’s football experience is unquestionable - across a highly decorated AFL career spanning 15 years, he played a key role in Geelong’s premierships in 2007, 2009 and 2011, claiming the Norm Smith medal for best on ground in 2011.
Bartel was awarded the game’s highest individual honour, the Brownlow Medal, in 2007, as well as earning All-Australian honours in 2007 and 2008.
In 2016, the final year of his 305-game career, Bartel was awarded the AFL’s most prestigious community award, the Jim Stynes Medal for his tireless work to raise funds and bring awareness to domestic violence victims.
In recent years, the 35-year old has built a impressive business resume which has seen Bartel hold a range of directorships and ambassadorial roles, including Touchstone Executive Search as well as apparel brand X-Blades, where he is also a part owner. He continues to be an investor in a host of leading start ups.
