A home Preliminary Final is on the line on Thursday night when the GIANTS head to Adelaide to take on the Crows at Adelaide Oval.

The blockbuster clash will see the third-best offence take on the third-best defence. Adelaide are third in the AFL for points for, averaging 101 per game while the GIANTS have been tight in defence, conceding just 70.5 per game.

It’s also the third and fourth best teams going head-to-head when it comes to stoppages over the last month.

Adelaide’s ranked third in the competition when it comes to clearing from stoppages, averaging 8.8 per game, while the GIANTS are in fourth spot averaging 5.5  more clearances than their opposition per game.

Adelaide – despite two losses – have been at the top of the pecking order, not just on the ladder, but over the past month in an array of areas.

The Crows were the top team in the competition over the past month for disposal differential (46 more than their opponents), contested possession (+18.8) and uncontested possession (+36.2).

It doesn’t stop there with the Crows dominating the inside-50 count over the past four rounds of football, averaging 22.2 more than their opponents.

Once the Crows get it inside-50 they usually keep it there, they’re ranked first for time locked into forward half at +15:40 and that’s because they’ve been the top ranked side for forward half turnovers at 34.8 per game over the past month.
