A dominant display up forward by Kristian Jaksch and Bret Thornton has helped the UWS GIANTS to a 46 point win over NT Thunder in their NEAFL match at TIO Stadium in Darwin.

After a relatively even first half, the young GIANTS kicked 11 goals to five in the second half to secure a spot in the top five.

Thornton and Jaksch both finished with five goals each to their name. UWS coach Brett Hand said he was very happy with the result in difficult, slippery conditions.

"Dom Tyson, Mark Whiley, Jono O'Rourke and Zac Williams were dominant around stoppages and Jaksch and Thornton were the best forwards on the ground," Hand said.

"Will Hoskin-Elliott was very good in defence providing lots of rebound and inside 50 entries with Sam Frost and Matt Buntine playing solid games on the opposition key forwards.

"Liam Sumner was also lively, running hard from the start to the finish of the game and also contributing three goals."

The UWS GIANTS will play the Gold Coast Suns at ŠKODA Stadium next Sunday.
