The GIANTS are inviting all young girls aged from under 12 to under 15 to participate in their special 'Girls Night In’ fun-filled football clinic held by specialist coaches and featuring GIANTS AFL and AFLW players in attendance.
To be held on Wednesday, March 27 at Blacktown International Sportspark from 5:15pm-6:30pm with the support of AFL NSW/ACT, the GIANTS welcome young girls of all experience and abilities along to celebrate and enjoy the benefits of the great game of Australian Rules football.
Led by GIANTS Female Academy head coach Georgia Walker, the event is sure to be a fun night of football featuring a high-energy and inclusive skills session for the girls, as well as the chance to also meet and greet GIANTS AFL and AFLW players.
The come and try event is open to any and all girls born in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
GIANTS Head of Academies, Jason Saddington, encouraged girls of all backgrounds to come along and experience the joys of AFL football.
“All girls from under 12 to under 15, of any ability, current players or non-players, we want to see you there, and bring a friend, for what will be a really fun night,” he said.
“The event will be a great night enjoying footy and it’ll be run by expert coaches with girls from all over Western Sydney. The girls will get to meet and great GIANTS footballers and Academy staff will even have their eyes peeled for young talent that we could invite into our Development and Academy programs.
“We want to grow junior female participation in Western Sydney, and we are hopeful this event will encourage some new young females to engage in footy, and through enjoying the experience will be keen to join a local community footy club.
“For girls currently playing, we also want to support their participation in footy with an experience celebrating their enjoyment for the game.
“Whether you’re a keen footballer or you’ve never tried it before, we’d love to see you there on Wednesday night.”
