Captain Toby Greene is set to return to take on St Kilda at GIANTS Stadium on Sunday.

The superstar forward - who is two games away from the 200-game milestone - has missed the past two matches with an ankle injury.

GIANTS Head of Medical James Rahme said the club expected Greene to play this week.

“We’ve been pretty clear that Toby needed to be passed fit to return and last week he trained well in main training but just couldn’t quite get over the line,” Rahme said.

“He travelled with us to Melbourne and did a big session on Sunday which is a great start. He’ll continue to increase his training across the week but at this stage we’d expect him to be available to take on the Saints.”

Defender Isaac Cumming will be sidelined until the mid-season bye with a calf injury sustained last week.

“It’s frustrating for Isaac, who has a brilliant start to the season,” Rahme said.

“We know he’ll attack his rehab with his usual hard work and diligence so we look forward to him returning to the field in a month or so.”

Meanwhile, Lachlan Keeffe (thumb) and Jason Gillbee (calf) returned to the field in the VFL’s thrilling win over Collingwood on Sunday.

Young midfielder Conor Stone has returned to running following some back issues while wingman Jacob Wehr is on track to start integrating into training over the next couple of weeks
