A host of GIANTS face fitness tests this week in a bid to take on Collingwood this weekend.

Captain Toby Greene, who was a late withdrawal from the Bulldogs clash at Manuka Oval, will ramp up his training this week to be passed fit to face the Magpies on Sunday.

GIANTS Head of Medical James Rahme said:

“Toby picked up an ankle injury in the Derby against the Swans but managed to play through to finish that game. It was a remarkable effort that he was able to do what he did in that final quarter and win the game for us,” he said.

“As a result, he was limited in his training last week and we gave him until Friday morning to undergo a fitness test but ultimately he just wasn’t able to get through and play on Saturday night.

“He ran on Monday and will build up his training before he’ll need to pass a fitness test to take on Collingwood this weekend.”

Lachlan Keeffe (thumb) and Jason Gillbee (calf) are also expected to undergo fitness tests to return to the field this weekend following minor injuries, while wingman Ryan Angwin is also a test.

Angwin rolled his ankle late in the loss to the Bulldogs and will be assessed later in the week.

Meanwhile, Phil Davis (groin) and Daniel Lloyd (calf) made successful returns to the field last weekend.

The GIANTS take on Collingwood in both AFL and VFL on Sunday in Melbourne.
