GIANTS Co-Captain Phil Davis is out of intensive care but remains in hospital after injuring his kidney against the Swans 10 days ago.

Davis received an accidental knock to his back during the first quarter of the GIANTS’ 32-point win at Spotless Stadium.

He played out the match and was taken to hospital afterwards. It’s not clear when he will be released from hospital or how much football he will miss.

Rhys Palmer will miss four to six weeks with a hamstring injury sustained in the second quarter of the Round 1 match against the Swans.

Former Hawthorn premiership player Stephen Gilham will undergo a fitness test on his ankle this week to be available for selection against St Kilda this Saturday.

Fellow defender Tim Mohr is nearing a return from a foot injury and is two weeks away from possible selection.

Sam Schultz continues to recover from a pre-Christmas shoulder operation.
