He’s our courageous defender with a penchant for man buns and a love of food. Now Matt Buntine is putting it all on the line in his quest to become the CLEO Bachelor of the Year.

After hundred of entries, the team at CLEO have come up with a shortlist of 30 talented, funny and down-to-earth hotties (their words, but who are we to argue?) and our very own Matt Buntine is among the list.

After one of his best seasons yet, the small defender turned his hand to modelling in a Magic Mike XXL-inspired photo shoot for the October issue of CLEO Magazine, out now.

The only professional footballer in the top 30, Buntine isn’t afraid to use his occupation to try and get votes. He’s also made sure his instagram food blog (@whereyoudrathereat) got a plug as well.

BACHELOR QUESTIONNAIRE

Q: What makes you stand out as a bachelor?

A: Potentially, being a footballer? But other than that, I have good values, a good work ethic and just living life to the fullest!

Q: What are you passionate about?

A: Well, I have a food blog, so I am a big food enthusiast, love to travel, I learnt Japanese all through high school, so I hope to head to Tokyo and really immerse myself in their culture. It’s beautiful.

Q: What’s your all-time favourite chick flick?

A: A mix between Friends with Benefits (I think JT kills it in that) and Notting Hill. That’s Hugh Grant at his finest.

Q: What’s the most giant part about you?

A: My hair. I’m trying to do the man bun proud this year.

Q: Do your mates know you’re doing this?

A: Two of them do, none of my footy mates know. I think the way to keep them hushed is tell them they can come to the party.
