GIANTS fans attending games at ENGIE Stadium (formerly GIANTS Stadium) are set to be treated to a spectacular visual experience, with the venue undergoing a significant $4m LED lighting upgrade to be unveiled at the GIANTS’ clash with the Western Bulldogs on Saturday.

In an exciting advancement to the home of the GIANTS, the 24,000-seat stadium will now feature state-of-the-art LED lights exclusively designed for sporting and multi-purpose venues.

Set to put ENGIE Stadium at the forefront of event experiences in Sydney, the upgrade will significantly elevate the venue’s lighting capabilities and enhance the match-day experience for fans at ENGIE Stadium while also cutting the Stadium’s power consumption by half on game days.

Compliant with AFL and International Cricket Council requirements, the advanced new lighting system will also have the functionality to support world-class light shows for concerts and music festivals, including the venue’s very own Sydney Royal Easter Show.

The spectacular lighting enhancements will be unveiled on Saturday as the GIANTS host the Western Bulldogs in an exciting clash between the fierce rivals.

The upgrades will also be on show in the GIANTS’ other remaining five home games at ENGIE Stadium this season, headlined by a pair of huge twilight clashes against the Power and the Swans in rounds 14 and 15, as well as a Saturday night spectacular against the Blues in round 17.

GIANTS CEO David Matthews said the upgrade would provide a world-class experience for fans attending GIANTS games.

“This upgrade is very exciting for the GIANTS as it will only further enhance the amazing match-day experience we already offer at ENGIE Stadium,” Mr Matthews said.

“We can’t wait for fans to come along on Saturday to watch us take on the Bulldogs and enjoy what we know is a first-class experience for our fans.

“The venue itself continues to be a world-class stadium that has been consistently voted as the number one AFL venue in the country for fan experience.

“From a GIANTS game day perspective, we pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality experience for our Orange Army and we’re excited to build on that first-class experience with this new upgrade at ENGIE Stadium.”

The project was directly funded by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, which runs the award-winning venue.

Sydney Showground General Manager, Darryl Jeffrey, said the upgrade would see the venue thrive among its peers well into the future.

“We are super excited about this upgrade and believe the investment in a state-of-the art lighting system is a great step forward for our business and the longevity of the stadium,” Mr. Jeffrey said.

“As a venue, we have proven our versatility in hosting a range of events from festivals and sporting matches to live stadium shows, and we believe this innovative technology will take our venue’s offerings to the next level, ensuring it can remain competitive against the brand-new stadiums built over the last few years.

“Having recently launched our own Environmental, Social and Governance strategy, this lighting upgrade is also a direct investment into the sustainability of our venue, with the new LED lighting boasting a life expectancy of 25 times that of the current system and set to reduce running costs by up to 47 per cent.”
