The GIANTS have moved into the first round of the 2017 NAB AFL Draft after a trade with Essendon that sees Devon Smith become a Bomber.

The GIANTS have received Essendon’s pick 11 in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft and a future third round selection in exchange for Smith, selection 24 in the 2017 Draft and a future second round pick.

An inaugural GIANT, Smith played 109 games across six seasons after being drafted with pick 14 of the 2011 NAB AFL Draft.

GIANTS List Manager Craig Cameron said: “We’re delighted to be able to move into the first round of the upcoming NAB AFL Draft.

“This improves our position to be able to add some of the best young talent to our list next month.

“Devon has been a part of our club for a number of years and we wish him all the best in the next stage of his career at Essendon.”

The GIANTS hold picks 11, 26, 64, 70 and 88 in the 2017 at next month’s NAB AFL Draft in Sydney.
