Two of the GIANTS’ brightest young stars are set for a busy weekend despite not lining up for the season decider at the MCG.

Josh Kelly is set to show the competition that he’s got the biggest kick as he takes part in the Fox Footy Longest Kick, while Tim Taranto will put his pace to the test in the Gatorade Grand Final Sprint.

Kelly – who finished sixth in Tuesday’s Brownlow Medal and was named in the 2017 Virgin Australia All Australian side – is known for his precise kicking but the smooth moving midfielder will have to wind up his trusty left leg to show he’s also got one of the biggest boots in the game.

The Fox Footy Longest Kick will see Kelly and the likes of Bryce Gibbs, Josh Kennedy, Matt Suckling, Brendan Fevola, Jason Dunstall and Danny Frawley attempt to kick across Melbourne’s Yarra River on Saturday morning ahead of the Grand Final.

If you’re in Melbourne head along to Birrarung Marr on the Yarra River at 10am to cheer on Kelly as he attempts to become the GIANTS’ first winner of the competition. For GIANTS members and fans at home, you can watch Fox Footy’s Longest Kick from 10am on Foxtel channel 504.

19-year-old Taranto has already proved he’s got speed to burn in the 14 games he’s played in his debut season of AFL but will have to take on some of the competition’s speedsters in the 2017 Gatorade Grand Final Sprint.

Taranto will race against representatives from all 18 clubs on the MCG at half time of 2017 Toyota AFL Grand Final and like Kelly will be looking to be the first GIANT to take out the prestigious honour.

Channel Seven will broadcast the 2017 Gatorade Grand Final sprint live as part of the 2017 Toyota AFL Grand Final broadcast.
