With Thirsty Merc to play live at this week’s clash with Hawthorn, we’ve got 20 Good Reasons (in no particular order) why you need to get to the game.

We’re back at Spotless Stadium for the first time in 2016 and we’ve got a bumper fixture at home this season, opening with this Saturday’s game against the three-time reigning premiers Hawthorn.

One of Australia’s hottest musical acts, Thirsty Merc, will perform on the Virgin Australia Stage to kick off the 2016 season. The trio will perform a half-time show as well as playing post-match during kick-to-kick on the purpose-built stage just metres from the field.

Like at every GIANTS home game, bring your footy and take to Spotless Stadium after the game to have a kick on the hallowed turf.

Spotless Stadium was rated the number one venue for match day experience in 2015, rating high for entertainment, food and beverage and pricing.

6. Post Match Function at GIANTS HQ

Head down the road to the GIANTS’ Learning Life Centre at 1 Olympic Boulevard, Sydney  Olympic Park with our resident band Big Big Sound playing live and plenty of free family entertainment with the GIANTS Fan Zone and food and beverages available to purchase.

7. Free train travel

8. Brand new and improved Virgin Australia Stage

Positioned in the forward pocket down the Scoreboard end, just metres from the field, the brand new Virgin Australia Stage will bring you some of Australia’s hottest acts at half time and post game all season long.

9. Soldier On

The GIANTS are proud partners of Solder On and last season supplied 162 tickets and gave 33 families the opportunity to witness live AFL. Soldier On is funded through the generous support of the Australian public. Members of Soldier On will also form the guard of honour as the players run out. 10. Woolworths AFL Playground

Head up on to the concourse down the Scoreboard end for our new Kids Zone with inflatables, giveaways, face painting, colouring in and G-MAN appearances.

11. #TrueColours

Be seen at the game and show your pride by wearing your GIANTS club gear. The GIANTS team will be roaming with the #TrueColours board and if you’re selected as the fan of the game you’ll win a Sherrin game ball.

12. Remember last time?

It was also round six last year when the GIANTS took on the Hawks for the first time at Spotless Stadium and it became a day to remember for the club. On the back of a career-high seven goals from Jeremy Cameron, the GIANTS beat the reigning premiers by 10 points. Can lightning strike twice?

13. Captain Risky

Captain Risky, aka Shane Mumford, returns to his original home at Spotless Stadium. The in-form ruckman has a happy hunting ground at his home stadium where the GIANTS won six from eight games last year.

14. The best family entertainment

The AFL playground, kids zone, inflatables, giveaways, face painting, colouring in, G-MAN appearances, kick to kick and so much more! All this and a cracking game of football with family passes starting from just $48 for two adults and two kids.

18. NEAFL curtain-raiser

For the first time this year the Western Sydney University GIANTS will play the curtain-raiser ahead of a GIANTS match so get there early to see us take on the NT Thunder from 12.55pm.

19. Leon’s 50th game as coach

Leon Cameron will coach his 50th AFL match this Saturday. Cameron coached his first AFL match in Round 1, 2014 following a long career as an assistant coach at the Western Bulldogs, Hawthorn and under Kevin Sheedy at the GIANTS in 2013. Cameron played 256 games at the Western Bulldogs and Richmond.
