An extremely versatile player capable of playing on all three lines, James Leake was taken with pick 17 by the GIANTS in the 2023 AFL Draft. A Tasmanian who starred for the Devils in the Coates Talent League in 2023, Peake won a premiership as a 16-year-old playing for Launceston FC in the Tasmanian State League in 2022. Named an All-Australian after the Allies’ title win in 2023, Leake impressed throughout the season whether playing up forward or down back. Highlighting his versatility, Leake was named an All Australian for his work in the Allies’ back line, before returning to the forward line for Tasmania where he kicked 15 goals across the final five games of the season. Leake is an exciting prospect who will be looking to break into the GIANTS’ lineup as a midfielder for a 2024 debut.
