Emerging as one of the competition’s most exciting small forwards across the last two seasons, Jones first burst onto the scene with an eye-catching debut in 2024 where he played 14 games to take out the club’s Rising Star Award. The electric small forward was also recognised by the league with an AFL Rising Star nomination in round 17 of his debut season for a starring performance in a win over Carlton. Originally drafted by the club with pick 21 in the 2022 Draft, Jones’ AFL debut was put on hold for 12 months after rupturing his ACL early in the 2023 season. Fit and firing in early 2024 after overcoming his knee injury, the West Australian made his long-awaited AFL debut in round seven, 2024 where he dazzled with his speed and agility to quickly become a fan favourite across the league. Dubbed ‘the kid with the lid’ due to playing in an eye-catching orange and charcoal helmet, Jones’ lightning speed and creativity around goals have made him a dangerous weapon in Adam Kingsley’s front half and a cult figure among AFL fans. Jones took his game to a new level in 2025, playing 23 games and kicking 19 goals to cement his spot in the GIANTS’ best side. Unfortunately Jones suffered a second ACL injury in the club’s semi-final clash with Hawthorn in the 2025 Finals Series which will likely sideline him for at least the front half of the 2026 season.
