A graduate of the AFL Academy, Taylor was selected with pick 28 in the 2017 AFL Draft and has since cemented himself as one of the league’s premier defenders. Hailing from rural Western Australia as the third of seven children, Taylor enjoyed a breakout 2022 season, earning his first All-Australian selection and winning his first club champion award. Known for his exceptional ability to both lock down opponents and dominate through his brilliant intercept marking, Taylor has been a key pillar in the GIANTS' backline in recent years. Despite a stellar 2023 campaign that had him in the mix for a second All-Australian blazer, a serious hamstring injury prevented him from meeting the minimum 15-game requirement for selection. After another stellar 2024 season, Taylor remained relatively injury free in 2025 which saw him re-establish himself as the best full back in the game after being named in the All-Australian side for a second time. Leading the entire competition in both total (70) and average (3.9) intercept marks per game, as well as sitting inside the top 10 for contested marks, Taylor was once again a dominant force down back in 2025 as the leader of the GIANTS brilliant backline.
