The GIANTS 2017 Australia Post AFL Community Camps kick off next week with the GIANTS heading to Canberra and the NSW South Coast on Tuesday.

After a successful Australia Post AFL Community Camp in Western Sydney in 2016, the GIANTS will spread throughout the local community again in 2017 as well as visiting Canberra for the sixth year in a row.

The Canberra and South Coast leg will kick off the camp on February 14 before players head to the Northern Riverina and Murrumbidgee Irrigation area in southern NSW between February 19-20.

The Australia Post Community Camp in southern NSW coincides with the GIANTS’ JLT Community Series game against West Coast in Narrandera on February 18. The Western Sydney visits will be held on February 21 and 22.

The entire GIANTS playing list and some of the GIANTS AFL Women's stars will visit schools, hospitals and local football clubs as part of the camp which will see more than 750 AFL players visit communities across Australia.

GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews said the GIANTS were looking forward to the upcoming camp.

“With over 30 per cent of our playing list from NSW and the ACT, the Australia Post AFL Community Camp is a great way for our players to spend time with our fans across our key regions of Western Sydney, Canberra and the Riverina,” said Mr Matthews.

“Attendances and club participation rates in Western Sydney have increased sharply in recent years and it’s important for the GIANTS to continue to build these connections.

“The record attendances at Manuka Oval in 2016 demonstrate that the Canberra sporting community is getting right behind the GIANTS.

“There is a real sense of anticipation ahead of our historic Friday night game against the reigning premiers the Western Bulldogs in Canberra this year and our players love spending time amongst the ACT communities.”
