The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS will play their first-ever Friday night game at Spotless Stadium when they take on Essendon in next year’s NAB Challenge series.

In a win for fans, the GIANTS will play all three of their NAB Challenge matches in Western Sydney and Canberra.

They will kick off the NAB Challenge against the Gold Coast Suns on Saturday, March 7 at Blacktown International Sportspark at 4.10pm.

The following week the GIANTS play Essendon at Spotless Stadium in the their first-ever Friday night game on March 13, starting at 7.10pm.

Their third and final match will be against cross-town rivals, the Sydney Swans, at StarTrack Oval Canberra on Sunday, March 22 at 1.10pm.

GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews welcomed the release of the NAB Challenge fixture.

“This is a great fixture for our fans in Western Sydney and Canberra and an ideal way to launch the season,” he said.

“We’re particularly excited to play a Friday night match at Spotless Stadium. It’s a great opportunity for fans to come out after work and school and for people in the Sydney Olympic Park precinct to experience live AFL against a big club in Essendon.

“We’re also pleased to be playing at Blacktown International Sportspark against another expansion club in the Suns and also bring this year’s runners up, the Swans, to our other home in Canberra.”

Each club will play three practice games across three weeks in March ahead of the 2015 season which begins on Thursday, April 2.

Last week the AFL confirmed the GIANTS will open their 2015 campaign against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on April 5. The full fixture will be released on Thursday which will be covered from every angle on gwsgiants.com.au.
