Third-year GIANT Adam Kennedy says the players are out to reward loyal fans with big improvements in 2014.

“Our fans have been amazing over the last few years and hopefully this year we just get more and more and that we can reward them with a few more wins and just good footy really,” he said.

“We’re just really looking forward to the season and hopefully we can get as many people out to Spotless Stadium as possible and look forward to a big 2014.”

The GIANTS will kick off their season with the Battle of the Bridge at the newly-renamed Spotless Stadium on March 15 against the Swans.

“We can’t wait,” Kennedy said.

“The Swans are obviously a quality outfit and if we can take it up to them as much as possible, hopefully we can bring a lot of energy to the games. We’re a young list and that’s what we’re priding ourselves on.”

Friday morning’s training session at Tom Wills Oval saw the players complete 60 minutes of match practice ahead of the club’s official intra-club match at Blacktown next Wednesday.

“I think the boys are looking forward to finally getting into the games. All the boys had a good hit out and I think everyone’s pretty eager to get out next Wednesday to have a good match.”

Kennedy played 19 games in 2013, excelling as a small defender. But he has a new challenge for this season playing further up the ground.

“I played a little bit down back and a little bit on the wing (today),” he said.

“I think they’re trying to get a few boys to try and be a bit more versatile and I’m one of them. It’s interesting for me, a new role, but I’m looking forward to it and can’t wait to next Wednesday and have a go at it.

“I’ve worked with Chad (Cornes) pretty closely as a small defender a lot the last two years but I’m sort of hoping to play that role as well as moving up the ground.”
