The GIANTS will welcome back co-captain Phil Davis among five inclusions in a 25-man squad for Sunday’s game against Brisbane at Spotless Stadium.

Davis, who returns from a one-week suspension, has been named at full back. Defenders Zac Williams and Nathan Wilson, ruckman Rory Lobb and midfielder Jack Steele have all been included on an extended bench.

Should Steele be selected in the final side tomorrow, he will become the GIANTS’ first debutant of the season after being picked at number 24 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft, graduating from the PM CAPITAL GIANTS Academy last year.

Defenders Nick Haynes (groin) and Adam Kennedy (omitted) are confirmed outs from the side that was beaten by the Western Bulldogs in Melbourne last weekend.

“It’s great to have Phil back as we missed his leadership at times last week. With Nick Haynes missing with a groin injury, it’s good to have your co-captain ready to slot back in,” coach Leon Cameron said.

“Williams, Steele, Wilson and Lobb have all been in strong form in the NEAFL and all deserve their spot in the squad.”

The GIANTS host Brisbane for the first time at Spotless Stadium on Sunday afternoon on a Sunday Funday with kids under 15 free.

“We’re coming up against a good, young side in Brisbane, so they’re going to be coming at us and we have to make sure we do the basics really well,” Cameron said.

“Brisbane can really cut you up if you don’t play some really good pressure footy so it’s a good challenge on Sunday.”

Cameron will name his final team on gwsgiants.com.au at 5pm on Friday.
