Ruckman Shane Mumford has been offered a one-match ban by the Match Review Panel following the GIANTS' win over Melbourne.

Mumford has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Melbourne’s Max Gawn during the third quarter of Saturday's match against the Demons at UNSW Canberra Oval.

Mumford caught the Demon high with his arm as Gawn lent down to pick up the ball, resulting in a clash to Gawn's head. Gawn suffered no ill-effects and played out the game.

In summary, Mumford can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from Melbourne, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact to the head.

The incident was classified as a two-match sanction and Mumford has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables him to accept a one-match sanction.

Mumford's tackle on Corey Maynard earlier in the game was given the all-clear.

The GIANTS have until tomorrow morning to decide whether to accept or challenge the suspension.
