Forward Jonny Patton and young midfielder Matt Kennedy return to the GIANTS side for the round four clash with Port Adelaide at UNSW Canberra Oval on Saturday.

Both Patton and Kennedy played in the season opener in Adelaide last month and come back into the side following strong performances in the NEAFL.

Kennedy starred against Sydney University last weekend gathering 37 possessions while Patton kicked two goals in the same game having overcome a hip complaint.

The GIANTS have been forced to make two changes with experienced duo Ryan Griffen (ankle) and Steve Johnson (knee) ruled out with injury.

Johnson missed the GIANTS main training session on Wednesday with knee soreness and the GIANTS medical staff have taken a cautious approach with the 33-year old.

Griffen suffered a syndesmosis injury during the second quarter of the GIANTS win over North Melbourne and is likely to miss up to 10 weeks.

Coach Leon Cameron said he’s preparing his side for a big challenge against an in form Power side.

“Matt has gone back to the NEAFL and put in two solid performances so we’re confident he’s ready to go for Saturday,” Cameron said.

“Jonny came through last week’s game with flying colours and trained well this week.

“We look forward to seeing our three talls in Lobb, Cameron and Patton back together this weekend.

“Our players love playing in Canberra, we get really good support there so we are looking forward to taking on Port Adelaide in a really competitive game of footy.”

This weekend sees the GIANTS continue their run of milestones after Phil Davis played his 100th AFL game and Steve Johnson kicked his 500th AFL goal last week.

Tom Scully will become the GIANTS’ third player to reach 100 games for the club when he runs out on the weekend, while the GIANTS’ all-time leading goal kicker Jeremy Cameron needs just one goal to reach 250 career goals.

The GIANTS play Port Adelaide at UNSW Canberra Oval on Saturday at 4.35pm in round four of the 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership season. Tickets available here. The match will be broadcast on 7mate in NSW/ACT and Fox Footy nationally.
