Tommy Sheridan has made the best first impression possible on his first day at the GIANTS, taking out the 2km time trial as the clubs’ first to fourth year players returned to the training track on Monday.

The 25-year-old, who joined the GIANTS as a delisted free agent last month, showed his running prowess to finish ahead of young gun Tim Taranto.

Second year GIANT Nick Shipley also impressed on the first day of pre-season, finishing third, while Zac Langdon and Jacob Hopper rounded out the top five.

Sheridan said he pushed himself to his limits during the run.

“I just went as hard as I could, I’m feeling a little sick from the run to be honest,” he said.

“Everyone ran really, really well, it was a strong performance which means they’ve all done work over the off-season and we can crack into some footy.”

Despite having to run a 2km time trial, the former Fremantle midfielder has enjoyed his first day in orange and charcoal.

“It’s been fantastic, it’s so new, refreshing and it’s good to get the time trial out of the way,” he said.

“I’m like a kid in a candy store, it’s like the first day of school I don’t know what’s going on but I’m just following the young boys and they’re looking after me.”

The former Fremantle midfielder has quickly warmed to the club, with the help of a few familiar faces and has moved in with key forward Jonny Patton and vice-captain Stephen Coniglio.

“Jonny’s looking after me and Cogs (Stephen Coniglio) is on the way back on Thursday,” he said.

“I know Toby (Greene) and Dyl (Buckley) and they’ve shown around a bit.

“I’m still finding my bearings, I’m not really sure where I’m going but I’ve been using the Waze app.

“All the boys have been really good especially Matt de Boer who I also caught up with the other day.”

The GIANTS’ draftees will join the club’s pre-season training next Monday, before the rest of the playing group return on Monday, December 3.
