The GIANTS have reached an agreement with Hawthorn to trade midfielder Tom Scully for a future fourth-round pick.

While contracted to the GIANTS, the club agreed to discuss a deal with Hawthorn following a season where Scully suffered a season-ending ankle injury in round two.

“It was a complex trade given the uncertainly around Tom’s ankle,” said List Manager Jason McCartney.

“Tom’s been a valuable member of the GIANTS’ playing list both on and off the field since joining the club ahead of the 2012 season.

“We thank Tom for his contribution to building our football club and with him all the best for the future.”

The Hawks received the future fourth-round pick from the Gold Coast Suns via the Jack Scrimshaw trade earlier today.

The GIANTS now hold picks 14, 25, 43, 47, 52 and 89 in this year’s NAB AFL Draft as well as a future second-round pick (tied to Carlton’s 2019 ladder position) and fourth-round pick (tied to Gold Coast’s 2019 ladder position).

The NAB AFL Trade Period runs through to 8:30pm on Wednesday, October 17.
