The GIANTS have received pick 43 and a future second-round pick from Carlton in exchange for midfielder Will Setterfield and pick 71.

The picks will help the GIANTS as they pursue a strong draft hand at the NAB AFL Draft both this year and next.

GIANTS List Manager Jason McCartney said:

“We wish Will all the best for the future and thank him for contribution over his two years at the GIANTS.

“Will requested to explore his options and receiving a third-round pick this year and a future second-round pick will help us bring in more young talent to continue to build our list for long-term success.

“This year’s pick is particularly valuable in a deep draft and it may end up higher should clubs ahead of us match Academy and Father-Son bids.”

The 20-year-old made his AFL debut in round 18, 2017 after being sidelined for much of that season with a serious ankle injury. A pre-season ACL knee injury ruined the midfielder’s 2018 season.

The GIANTS now hold picks 14, 25, 43, 47, 52 and 89 in this year’s NAB AFL Draft as well as a future second-round pick (tied to Carlton’s 2019 ladder position).

The NAB AFL Trade Period runs through to 8:30pm on Wednesday, October 17.
