Veteran Ryan Griffen has announced his AFL retirement following the GIANTS’ Semi Final loss to Collingwood at the MCG.

The 32-year-old played 257 AFL games for the GIANTS and the Western Bulldogs, kicking 161 goals.

Griffen started his career at the Bulldogs after being selected with pick three of the 2004 NAB AFL Draft.

The classy on-baller would go on to captain the club, be named an All Australian in 2013 and win two best and fairests in his 202 games.

Griffen joined the GIANTS during the 2014 trade period and would help the GIANTS to their maiden finals appearance in 2016.

“I knew this year was going to be my last,” Griffen said after Saturday’s Semi Final.

“I love this footy club and I know it can have success in the future, and I’ll be there cheering them on.”
