The GIANTS are proud to congratulate Community Partner Ronald McDonald House on the opening of their new facility at Westmead on Wednesday.

GIANTS AFL defender, and Ronald McDonald House Ambassador, Adam Tomlinson, forward Matt de Boer and AFL Women’s forward Cora Staunton were on hand to help open the new 60 room facility that 1,360 families will call home every year.

The new Ronald McDonald House Westmead took three years to build with the help of donations from the general public and organisations like the GIANTS and club partners Dyldam.

All proceeds from Channel 7’s Liveathon at Spotless Stadium during the GIANTS’ round 22 clash last season with West Coast went to help building the new facility.

The GIANTS have been an integral part in making the children smile with their visits to the house as a Community Partner of Ronald McDonald House Westmead.

Often all it takes is kicking the footy with the kids, cooking a BBQ or just having a chat, helping Ronald McDonald House Westmead lighten the burden for these families living away from home.

The GIANTS’ shorts partner, Dyldam have also had a long standing partnership dating back to 2005 when RMHW expanded beyond the grounds of the hospital to Dyldam’s nearby Redbank Road project.

Ronald McDonald House Westmead was established in 1986 and has since provided a warm and friendly home away from home for almost 12,000 families with seriously ill children receiving treatment at The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

By staying at RMHW, families remain connected, and parents and carers can better communicate with their child's medical teams. Families can give each other the moral and emotional support needed to get through their child's illness.

They can form relationships with other parents going through the same or similar experiences, and with staff and volunteers who provide support throughout their stay.

Ronald McDonald House Westmead is holding a community open day on Saturday, February 17 from 12:00pm. CLICK HERE to register your interest.
