Adelaide vice-captain Rory Sloane has been sent to hospital to have his appendix removed, just over a week before the GIANTS take on the Crows in a Qualifying Final.

The Crows said that Sloane reported abdominal pain on Tuesday morning and after extensive investigation it was determined that surgery was required.

"The Club remains hopeful the midfielder will be available for next Thursday’s Qualifying Final against Greater Western Sydney at Adelaide Oval."

Sloane is the second Crows this player to have his appendix removed this year.

Forward Eddie Betts missed one game after his appendix burst earlier this season.

The GIANTS take on Adelaide in an away Qualifying Final on Thursday, September 7 at 7:50pm at Adelaide Oval.
