Forwards Rory Lobb and Steve Johnson have been ruled out of the round 10 match against West Coast in Perth.

Lobb sat out the final quarter of the GIANTS' narrow victory against Richmond due to a groin injury, while Johnson will miss the game due to a knee complaint.

GIANTS Head of Athletic Performance David Joyce said: “Rory has received two heavy knocks to his pelvis in the last fortnight.

“He’s been sore as a result and hasn’t quite got to the level that we need early this week.

“We’ve made the early decision to focus on his recovery in order to get him right as soon as possible.

“Steve has been pulling up quite sore in recent weeks and his knee just hasn’t recovered well enough this week so won’t be available to play.

“We’re confident that with the right treatment both players won’t be far away from returning to the field.”

First year forward Lachie Tiziani will also be unavailable for selection due to knee soreness which saw him miss Saturday’s NEAFL match.

Meanwhile, fellow forward Devon Smith has undergone knee surgery after injuring his meniscus at training last Friday. The surgery was considered a success and the small forward will be sidelined for six weeks.

In other injury news, Tendai Mzungu has made significant progress with his hamstring injury and is expected to be sidelined for another 1-2 weeks before being available for selection.

Defender Nick Haynes (hamstring) is also making good progress and is in line to return after the mid-season bye.

Brett Deledio (calf), Jeremy Finlayson (groin), Jacob Hopper (finger), Ryan Griffen (ankle), Will Setterfield (ankle) and Stephen Coniglio (ankle) remain on track to return to the field in the coming weeks.
