The GIANTS were on hand to help the Parramatta Lions juniors settle into their new home at Old Kings Oval last week, with AFL to be played on the ground for the first time in 175 years.

The Parramatta Lions Junior AFL Club (previously called the Hills Lions) has moved to Old Kings Oval in Parramatta for the 2015 season. It will be the first time in the oval’s 175-year history an Aussie Rules club has called the ground home.

GIANTS co-captain Callan Ward, Shane Mumford, Adam Treloar and Sam Schulz visited the ground last week to have a kick with the Lions players and celebrate their new home ground.

“I think it’s a really positive step forward for us,” Parramatta Lions Junior AFL president Gregg Frost told the Parramatta Advertiser.

“There’s always been a sharing of facilities between cricket and footy.

“Speaking for the players, it’s good to see them play on a beautiful ground with better facilities.”

Parramatta Lord Mayor Scott Lloyd said he hoped to see the Old King’s Oval upgraded over the years into something iconic for Parramatta.

“We could make a little Allianz or SCG in Parramatta,” he told the Advertiser.
