The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS will receive a first round draft selection from Hawthorn in exchange for midfielder Jono O’Rourke.

The GIANTS will receive picks 19 and 40 from Hawthorn in exchange for O'Rourke and pick 43.

Out of contract O'Rourke asked the GIANTS to be traded after playing nine games in two years.

GIANTS List Manager Stephen Silvagni said: "We think this is a best possible deal under the circumstances which gives us a first round selection at next month's draft that we could also trade."

The GIANTS have improved their draft position to currently hold picks 4, 19, 21, 24 (committed to Jack Steele), 40, 62, 80, 98 and 116 (committed to Jeremy Finlayson) at next month’s NAB AFL Draft.
