Highly rated number two draft pick Josh Kelly has committed to the Greater Western Sydney GIANTS until the end of 2017.

19 year-old Kelly, who impressed in his AFL debut for the GIANTS against St Kilda last Saturday, is one of four young players to have re-signed with the club.

James Stewart, Cam McCarthy and Jake Barrett have also re-committed to the GIANTS. McCarthy, who was the number 14 selection in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft, has also re-signed until the end of 2017.

James Stewart, who debuted for the GIANTS last year, has committed to the end of 2016 along with Jake Barrett, who was drafted in 2013.

The re-signing of these four players means that 81% of the GIANTS list has signed beyond the 2014 season, including Callan Ward, Heath Shaw, Phil Davis, Shane Mumford, Tom Scully, Jeremy Cameron, Jon Patton, Lachie Whitfield, Adam Treloar, Dylan Shiel and Stephen Coniglio.

GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews said it was another strong endorsement of the club and its direction.

"I want to acknowledge these four young men for their show of faith in the club so early in their careers. They are not just very promising players but also terrific people," he said.

"We’ve just embarked on our third season in the AFL and the playing group is clearly embracing what we are building in Western Sydney and Canberra.

“Having started the year with the unveiling of our new training and administration facility and our first win over our cross town rivals the Swans, this is another significant milestone for the GIANTS."

Kelly, who collected 11 possessions after he was subbed into the match in the third quarter on Saturday, said he was thrilled to re-sign with the GIANTS.

“The club has been fantastic in helping me settle in Sydney and I’m rapt to re-sign with the GIANTS till the end of 2017,” he said.

“With Leon Cameron as Head Coach, state of the art facilities and a great group of young guys alongside me, I couldn’t ask for a better environment to play football.”
