The Slater & Gordon GIANTS Academy defeated the Sydney Swans Academy Under 18s by 16 points at the SCG last Saturday.

GIANTS Academy Manager Lachlan Buszard said it was great performances by the young side in what was becoming a fierce rivalry between the two clubs. Earlier the under 16s narrowly lost by five points to the Swans.

“The Slater & Gordon GIANTS Academy is continuing to provide pathways and create opportunities for young footballers in NSW and the ACT,” Buszard said. “Just this year we saw the first player out of the Academy, Zac Williams, a local talent from the Riverina, make his senior debut for the GIANTS.”

“The Academy series provides a unique development opportunity for these players and playing on the SCG is a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of these young kids. It provides a stepping stone to what we hope will lead to more opportunities for these young footballers in the future.”
