The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have enjoyed a very successful trade period bringing in a number of high profile premiership players to the club.

The GIANTS have also secured the first two picks at next month’s NAB AFL Draft as well as selections 14 and 29, leaving it well placed to recruit some of the best young talent in Australia.

Premiership players Heath Shaw (Collingwood), Shane Mumford (Swans) and Josh Hunt (Geelong) will all line up for the GIANTS in 2014 along with talented young Swans forward Jed Lamb who will be selected with pick one in the pre-season draft.

GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews said the trade period had been a very productive one for the GIANTS.

“We said we would be aggressive in the trade period and we have,” Matthews said.

“We wanted a ruckman and we got a premiership winning ruckman in Shane Mumford from the Swans.

“We wanted a quality defender and we secured two premiership defenders in Heath Shaw from Collingwood and Josh Hunt from Geelong.

“We wanted a clever forward and we picked up Jed Lamb from the Swans who’s going to be a great addition to our team. We’ve secured some quality mature players and kept pick one and acquired picks two and 14 in the upcoming NAB AFL Draft.

“These additions to our existing young talent sees us shaping up well for a much improved and competitive 2014 and we now look forward to pre-season training starting on November 6.

“I also want to wish Dom Tyson, Taylor Adams, Shaun Edwards, Kurt Aylett, Sam Darley and Josh Bruce all the very best for their careers ahead and thank them for their contribution as foundation players of the GIANTS.”
