The UWS GIANTS have continued their dominant NEAFL form with a 130-point win over the Suns reserves on the Gold Coast on Saturday.

The GIANTS had 71 inside-50s and 30 marks inside-50 with 23 goals scored in perfect conditions at Metricon Stadium.

Forward Jonny Patton, in his second game back from a second knee reconstruction, kicked seven goals and played 70 per cent of the game with fellow forward James Stewart also lively with four goals.

“Jon’s goals were a combination of really good leads, some hard work, some ground balls, a bit of change in direction and some contested marks so it was good to see. It was a step forward in the right direction,” said NEAFL coach Brett Hand.

Hand said while the damage was done up forward, the win was set up from the GIANTS’ back half with Nathan Wilson and Caleb Marchbank excelling.

“I thought our backs were really good. They set up a wall basically, they couldn’t get past it,” Hand said.

“11 of our goals came from back transition so Marchbank and Wilson were very, very good and (Jeremy) Finlayson, (Adam) Kennedy and (Tommy) Bugg as well.

“They just beat their opponents and then we were pro-active in our ball movement.”

It was another dominant performance by the GIANTS who sit two games clear on top of the NEAFL ladder with just one loss for the season.

“The game was played in our end of the ground. I was pleased with the effort and intensity to keep it in there. We missed a number of shots we shouldn’t have but it was a pleasing result,” Hand said.

“That’s been the pleasing thing the last month, we’ve played four quarters and we've stuck to the way we want to play for the majority of that, which is hard. Mentally we’re growing and that’s good.”

The UWS GIANTS will travel to Brisbane this weekend to play the Lions reserves at the Gabba on Saturday at 3.10pm.

“They’ve had some injury concerns but they’re getting some numbers back. They had 15 or 16 listed players on the weekend so we look forward to playing against another AFL team,” Hand said.
