As the GIANTS head to Tassie to chase their first win on the Apple Isle against North Melbourne, we take a look at all the news from Arden Street this week.

The Kangaroos will debut their 1000th player against the GIANTS on Saturday with defender Sam Durdin confirmed to play, according to coach Brad Scott.

"From day one of the off-season last year, he's been determined to break through into our senior team," Scott said of Durdin.

"He's had a magnificent pre-season, played some good pre-season footy, and it's a great honour to be the 1000th Shinboner to represent our club.”

The 2014 first-round pick replaces backman Scott Thompson who was suspended following North’s one-point loss to Geelong last weekend.

Shane Mumford will also have a battle on his hands with North Melbourne’s number one ruckman Todd Goldstien coming into the Kangaroo’s 22.

North Melbourne has named a tall line-up with Braydon Preuss, Majak Daw and Ben Brown all expected to play at Blundstone Arena.

The Kangaroos make for tough opposition but after their heartbreaking one-point loss to Geelong last weekend they come into this match with extra fire in their belly.

“There was a little bit of disappointment to lose a game like that when we were so close,” forward Ben Brown told the Mercury.

“But we can sit around and feel sorry for ourselves or we can pick ourselves up and get ready for the GIANTS, which is a massive game for us.

“We are really looking forward to taking it up to them, and we think we are absolutely every chance to beat them.”

The GIANTS play North Melbourne at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena at 1:45PM EST on Saturday, April 8
