With the GIANTS heading to the SCG for Sydney Derby XIV to take on the Swans, we’ve searched through our archives to find some of the best photos from the five matches they’ve played at one of the country’s most historic grounds.

Sydney Derby III – Cameron Kicks Three

In the first Sydney Deby at the SCG in round 16, 2013, Jeremy Cameron kicked three goals on his way to becoming the first GIANT to earn All Australian honours. The forward was in terrific form with this great photo capturing him in full flight. The GIANTS’ first trip to the SCG wasn’t a happy one with the 129 point loss to the reigning premiers still the biggest margin in Sydney Derby history.

Sydney Derby VI – Mummy Returns

After playing a key role in the GIANTS’ historic win over the Swans in round one, former premiership winning ruckman Shane Mumford returned to the SCG for the first time in round 15, 2014. Mumford beat former teammate Mike Pyke (pictured) in their ruck duel but the Swans claimed the premiership points, winning by 46 points.

Sydney Derby VII – Palmer Soars

This awesome snap shows forward Rhys Palmer soaring over Jarrad McVeigh during the round three, 2015 meeting between the two sides. Palmer kicked three goals as the GIANTS lost narrowly by 21 points. Lachie Whitfield starred in the match with a career best 37 disposals.

Sydney Derby IX – Davis' Drop Punt

This beautiful photo of co-captain Phil Davis with the dying light of the sun shining through the members at the SCG in round three, 2016. The GIANTS, who were without Jeremy Cameron and lost Aidan Corr through injury early, lost by 25 points in front of a crowd of 37,045.

Sydney Derby XII – Williams’ Roar

What a Derby this was! The Swans jumped the GIANTS early in round five, 2017 kicking the first four goals of the game. The GIANTS fought back, kicking the next nine goals to record their first-ever win at the SCG by 42 points. This image captures Zac Williams roaring with delight after kicking a fantastic dashing goal early in the final quarter.
