AFLW inaugural player and GIANTS veteran Alicia Eva has signed a one-year extension, keeping her at the club until at least the end of the 2026 NAB AFLW season.

An injury-interrupted 2025 restricted Eva to just four matches across the year on-field but the former captain proved herself a forever leader in her impact off-field.

A coach with the club’s VFL program, Eva acted in a pseudo coaching capacity through the year, focusing on trends and opposition, and was a constant fixture in the coaches’ box or on the bench during game days.

Having captained the club between 2020 and 2023, her influence on the GIANTS’ AFLW and broader football programs has been profound and will continue for at least another season, marking it her eleventh in the competition.

Executive General Manager of AFLW, Alison Zell, expressed her excitement of having Eva sign on for another year of football.

“Alicia has been a hugely important figure for the GIANTS over her nine seasons in orange and charcoal and we are thrilled to have her sign on for another year,” Zell said.

“She is a leader for our club and team and even now continues to set the standard at training and on the field.

“We look forward to her bringing her trademark speed and footy IQ to another season at the club.”
